The Angkor Archaeological Park is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations.
Angkor Wat has a tourist code of conduct, which includes wearing modest clothing (knees and shoulders covered), not touching or climbing on the temples, respecting the monks, not giving money or candy to children, and not smoking.
The best way to visit the Angkor Archeological Park is by tuktuk, which can be found all over Siem Reap town. Prices depend on the routes and are between US$ 15 to US$ 25. Another great way to explore the temples is by bicycle. Extensive cycling paths, mostly covered by trees allowing for a shady ride, have been set up all throughout the Angkor Park. Bicycles can be rented at many locations throughout town.
Tickets for the Angkor Archeological Park have to be purchased at the ticket centre. The cost for 1 day is $37,50, 3 days is $62, and 7 days is $72. One-day passes are valid for the day of purchase, three-day passes for 10 days from date of purchase, and seven-day tickets are valid for one calendar month.
Tickets may be purchased after 5:00 pm the evening before, allowing you in to see the sunset for free that evening, and avoid morning line-ups.
